The Molodizhnyi park is situated on the grounds of the former Ioanno-Useknovensky cemetery, where notable Kharkovites were buried. In the 1970s, a recreational zone was created in its place. However, a few symbolic graves remained in the park. In the late Soviet period, the Polytechnic Institute sports complex was built in the far part of the park.
